Work is progressing towards gathering information and forming partnerships to prepare for carbon certification requirements. Jorge Ramos, project officer and the Laclubar/Soibada field workers have been busy mapping tree plantation areas and forest to be managed under natural regeneration (see example below).
A Memorandum of Understanding has been signed between GTNT and the Timor Leste Department of Environment. A community agreement has also been signed between GTNT and farmers. In the meantime, GTNT continues to support farmer payments for tree plantations and student scholarships for secondary education.
